abstract = "This article aims to use the methodology of Cartography
Geoecological of susceptibility to wildfires developed through the
knowledge model using open source software InterIMAGE 1.21. The
susceptibility methodology uses existing nature variables in the
landscape that promote the begins of wildfires in the area of the
Pedra Branca massif as part of the Atlantic Forest and is located
in the Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil. The data used are slope and
solar radiation maps, both extracted from Digital Elevation Model
(DEM) and combustibility map that was developed from a land cover
map. These maps were combined using decision rules developed by
the analytical-integrative approach, which resulted in the
generation wildfires susceptibility classes. The software is
developed by the Laboratory Vision Computer - LVC / PUC-Rio in
partnership with the National Institute for Space Research - INPE,
has provided excellent results for this study and allows the
application of the methodology in other protected areas that
present the wildfires prevention and providing assistance to
combat this phenomenon in nature. The research also aims to enter
other variables of the landscape to make the knowledge model of
the wildfires still closer to reality in order to bring new
                         applications to software InterIMAGE.",
